Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)
Words can transform. In fact whenever we speak loving words that inspire, it does not only uplift the other, it uplifts us as well. Our soul does not just speak through us but to us. Whatever we speak either silently or out loud, we hear it and we are always its receiver. That’s why when we speak words as deceiving as white bread or as damaging as waste bread. We bring restlessness to our own conscience. We were designed only for goodness.
In Genesis, the universe came into being because of words from God’s goodness. It all came from a heart full of love for us that and only dreamt of the best for us. We were fashioned from those words, which are also within us. We can compliment instead of complain, correct instead of criticize, refresh instead of ridicule, and spread goodness instead of garbage. Words are not just words; they are life. They are symbols and they have real meanings that echo our orders to the universe. The universe responds to whatever message we hurl into it. This is how significant words can be. They either make or break us. Yet if it is wheat bread that we share, we bring nourishment and transformation. Just like God’s words, which we can’t live without as reminded to us in Matthew 4:4.
Proverbs 12:18 tells us, “The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” Fill your words with wheat that they may bring health and energy to life that you may relate to others similarly. Yet, we can only speak with love if we are consumed by it in the form of God’s word. From that abundance, our mouths will speak words that transform, rebuild and nurture us and others. Speak love, spread love.
