Questions are Answers

I believe that every question doesn't only have an answer. I believe that every question is an answer. Every question leads to another question. I have always maintained that the best decisions we can ever make are decisions that are guided by questions.

The quality of our life is determined by the quality of the questions that we ask. But then, there are tough questions and there are tougher questions. We may not have an answer for every question out there but God does. And even if God does have the answer, there are times when He does not answer them right away. Why? So that we will continue to ask.

Today we will try to answer some of the toughest questions that all of us are asking. We will try to answer these in the most practical way. Practical is logical. We shall also look for Scripture passages to answer these questions. When we can, we shall look at what the Church has to say about certain issues.

Friends, I encourage you to keep asking questions. Ask God and ask yourselves. You may not be able to answer them now, but I know that one day, the answers will come. Every question is an answer.

I pray that you will find and get what you came here for. I pray that God's grace will meet you where you are and not leave you where it found you.

Have a great Feast!

Saved by Grace

"Are you saved?" I have been asked this question many times. Honestly, when I was just new in the Charismatic renewal, I didn't know how to answer the question.

The only saving i knew then was done in a bank. Then i slowly understood God's grace and His unconditional love. I began to have a deeper appreciation of God's saving power. Jesus became the hound of heaven to me.

The rest is history. I have been saved by grace. I am completely in the grip of grace. I have come to know the God of grace. I have experienced His stubborn love. Now i know that I am saved. Not because of my efforts but because God just won't let go of me. He won't give up and run out on me.

Salvation is a gift. It is God coming to man and not man coming to God. It is heaven coming to us. Jesus came that we may be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Jesus came because He loved us.

I say every person should enter into a relationship with Jesus. I say that salvation is a gift and like any other gift, it should be received. Friends, let us receive this gift. Today.

Let God's love transform you. Let His grace move youLet His unstoppable love change you.

Have a great Feast!

Holy Suffering

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
-Psalm 34:19

What a very reassuring verse. But, reality is, no matter what assurance we get, it's never easy to go through suffering. It will forever be a mystery that we are allowed to suffer for our good. That in the ugliness of suffering we can still see something good that will come out of it.

Suffering is Christ's invitation to us to follow him. Christ goes through the passion and suffering all the way to the cross, and we are invited to follow to the same cross. Not because it is the cross, but because it is his cross. Suffering is blessed not because it is suffering but because it is his suffering. Suffering is not the context that explains the cross anymore, the cross is the context that explains suffering.

So when tragedy strikes, as I am sure it will; when suffering comes, as it will; when you’re wrestling with pain, as you will – and when you make the choice to run into His arms, here’s My prayer for you. That you’ll find peace to deal with the present, you’ll find courage to deal with your future, and you’ll find the incredible promise of eternal life in heaven.
Have a great Feast!

Suffering

While waiting for my delayed flight bound for Manila from Bacolod, I decided to get a foot massage. You see, I played basketball a few days ago and I was still reeling from what seemed to be an ankle injury.

I took my seat at the massage chair. As soon as the therapist touched my foot, I went through a near death experience. I felt like my spirit was trying to separate from my physical body. What went on in the next few minutes was pure torture. As in martial law torture. I was about to call the Commission on Human Rights hotline when I realized that the pain was slowly going away. In about a few more minutes, the pain was almost gone.

Life is like getting a massage. Initially, we will go through inexplicable pain. The pain of trials, rejection, failures and challenges. We then need to trust a Therapist to work on us. We need to let Him touch the painful parts. The pain gets more intense in the beginning  but eventually goes away. Then bliss happens.

How do we find meaning in suffering? How can we make sense out of our sacrifices? Where can we find strength to go on? Is there a reason for all that i am going through? Today, we try to answer these questions.

I pray that you find what you came for today at the Feast.

Have a great Feast.

Everlastingly at it,

Hiya

I was once a very shy person. I think i still am. I learned the tenets of being a shy person from my grandparents. Don't get me wrong. Much of what i am today is because of the training that i had from my lolo and lola. They taught me the old fashion way of not telling people what you really want, not speaking your mind and not getting what is rightfully yours.

Hiya...it is good up to a point but it also can be bad. It can form a person well but it can also destroy one. It can teach us good manners but it can also drill bad manners in us. This is what we will talk about today.

Having just enough hiya is a good thing. But as Filipinos, we sometimes overdo it. As Christians, we have mis understood what it really means. I pray that we will all learn how to use this for our good. I pray that we will use hiya to grow in the spirit.

Listen in and I pray that you will have a breakthrough today. Let God's love speak to you today, better yet, my you experience God's love firsthand.

Have a sumptuous Feast.

Ps. I pray for those who were hit by this week's torrential rains. I encourage everyone to do everything we can to help those who were affected. Please coordinate with our outreach ministry and find out how we can help carry one another's burdens.

Peer Pressure

I was never really into fashion.

As I was growing up, fashion was the last on my list. Maybe because I was a bit on the heavy side. Okay, okay, I was too much on the heavy side.

One day, I decided I wanted to become a fashion icon. If I remember right “skinny jeans” was the "in" thing during that time.Okay, okay we called it “baston.” I went through my wardrobe and found that I only had baggy pants with matching pleats. (Oh no, I am revealing too much of my dark secrets.) Since I did not have a pair of baston pants, I went through my lolo’s wardrobe. I found one that was one size smaller but it looked perfect. I had a rough time walking but it looked perfect.

Little did I know that I set myself up for the most embarrassing situation in my life. I slipped (remember how shiny classrooms are) and ripped the pants from crotch point to the hemline.

Why did I subject myself to such punishment? Peer pressure. I wanted to be "in". I wanted to belong. I wanted to become like my classmates who were wearing the latest fashion. Ha. The things that we do to belong.

We will talk about PakikisamaversusPakisama this week. We will talk about the power and the danger of this Filipino trait. Is it advantageous? Can we use it for good? Can we use it for God?

Sit back, relax and enjoy God’s bounty.

Wow Pinoy!

Scandalous Grace

It defies logic. It transcends reason. It violates every aspect of fair play.

God's gaze. God's face. God's grace.

I am baffled by the idea of God's fairness. "He is unfair," some people say. I agree.

If He was fair, we wouldn't be here. We would be condemned forever. We would be judged. The Bible tells us that the "wages of sin is death." But because of His great love, He sent His Son to die in our place. That by His death, we may all live. God's grace equals God's love.

Romans 5:20 says, "When sin abounds, grace abounds even more." God's love is bigger than our biggest sin, deeper than our deepest wrongdoing, wider than our widest imperfection. Grace meets us where we are. It doesn't leave us where it found us. The same grace that saved us will be the same grace that will change us.

That's what grace is. Unmerited. Undeserved. But it's yours. Freely given. Lovingly offered.

Receive God's grace today.

Have a great feast!

Grace-filled Relationships

I have been away from my family for two loooong weeks. Believe me, it was
excruciating. There was never a day that I did not long for them. I missed the sound of my son’s ringing laughter. I missed the incredible sight of my darling wife’s sweet smile.

Finally, I am home. While I was playing with my son Ziki this morning, he looked at me with the most heavenly beam and said, “Daddy is my best friend.” My heart melted like ice cream in a microwave oven.

I hugged him tightly.

“I love you Daddy,” he whispered.

I broke down.

I love my family.

Relationships. This has got to be one of God’s most precious gifts to us. God is interested in blessing your relationships you know. Because God isn’t just about relationships. He is the perfect relationship…Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Welcome to our latest series “Full Tank – The Joy of Grace-Filled Relationships.”

Yes, there is hope for our messed up relationships. Yes, there can be healing for our most complicated relationships. Yes, you can have fantastic relationships.

Sit back. Relax. Let God do what He does best. Have a great series.

Prayer

"Oh my!" we exclaimed.
We just got news about the demise of a friend. We were so shocked. We were just with her. The rest of the afternoon was so gloomy, as we prepared for our prayer meeting. While we were singing our opening song for worship, we were all terrified when our friend – yes the one who died earlier – walked into the hall.

Did Jesus just perform a miracle? Are we seeing a ghost?

We learned after that there was a miscommunication. And a terrible one, too.

As a communicator, I know that there are many ways to communicate a message. And I know that the integrity of the message is dependent on the means of communication.

We communicate with God by praying to Him. Sometimes, we pray the wrong way. Many times, we don't even pray.

Today, we will talk about the language of the Father. Today, we shall study what prayer is like.

And because we are talking about prayer, we will listen to a prayerful man. This guy's middle name is prayer. He knows what He is talking about because he has lived prayer. In fact, he invented prayer...er uhm...I think that's too much.

What I just want to say is, we will be blessed by Jan Silan, Associate Builder of the Makati Feast. I am sure he will open the minds of many and bring their hearts to the Lord.

Sit back, relax and be blessed.

Jesus in Blue Jeans

Growing up, I had a terrible image of God.

I saw God as an old man with a beard seated on His throne while looking over all of His creation. His face has wrinkles and He doesn’t smile. He is holding a record book on one hand and a pen on the other. He observes each of us and writes down every merit and demerit. And at the end of our time, He will decide based on the record book, if we will go to heaven or hell.

No wonder I had a hard time enjoying my relationship with God. I didn’t want to go to hell so I did the good stuff. I asked forgiveness for the bad things I did. But that was it. No intimacy. No openness (He knows me anyways). No fun.

I have news for you. I have changed my image of God. I now serve and worship a fun God. He is also merciful, generous, caring and most of all, He wears blue jeans. Whoa! I am not sure about the blue jeans part. But my point is God knows me because He became one of us. He is a regular guy (with extraordinary attributes) and He has invaded all the areas of my life. He just no longer sits on His throne checking on what’s the latest in booboo land. He now walks with me, laughs with me, cries with me and lives within me.

I am excited for this new series because this was how my image and relationship with God was revolutionized. Get ready to see and relate with God in a fresh, new and healthy way.

Enjoy the series, friends. (Pls bring more friends to the Feast. Let’s change the world one person at a time.)

The New Has Come

...“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

When you decide to follow Jesus, you are a new creation! You have a new spirit, a new walk, a new life!

There may be “old” things in your life that you are trying to get rid of. Maybe you have bad habits that you want to change. Remember, Jesus can make all things new.

It’s like having an overhaul. This new year and it’s time to be the new you. It’s time to change the old with the new. Let this year be the year you break old habits and addictions. Let this be the year that you move forward into a new life of victory.

This new life includes all the spiritual blessings the Lord has promised in His Word. You will have peace. Health. Protection. Provision. Cheer up and know that no matter what you are going through in your life right now, you can enjoy the new life God has prepared for you. Make the choice today. Leave the old behind—old behavior, old thinking, old words. It’s time to change and move forward into the life of blessing the Lord has in store for you.

Have a great series.

It’s Time to Dream

I would like to thank everyone for an awesome 2011. It was fun and fulfilling to serve the Lord by serving you. I am looking forward to serving you again this 2012.

A Future Full of Hope.

I am excited about 2012 because I believe that this year will be many times more awesome than last year.

I have two words for you at the start of the year. Hope and faith. Hope is the ability to hear the music of the future. Faith is the ability to dance to it today.

Hope for good things. Hope for the best. Hope for breakthroughs. Hope for healing. Hope for abundance. Hope for a victorious 2012. Where there is no hope in the future there is no power in the present.

Faith is the assurance of things we hope for and the evidence of things we do not see.  Have faith in a big God. Have faith in God’s mercy. Have faith in God’s love. Have faith in yourself. Have faith in God’s faithfulness.

Friends, it’s time to dream. Dream again. Dream big. Believe God for a brighter 2012. It’s time to recapture our dreams. Today is the day of salvation. Today is the best time to start anew. Today is your day.

Take my hand and my heart. Together we will dream again. Together we will achieve our dreams. In Jesus’ name.

God’s Ambassadors

"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors"
(2 Corinthians 5:20, NIV)

As believers in Jesus, we are called to be His representatives in the earth. In government, ambassadors are privileged. They are diplomats with the highest rank. They walk in the authority of the one who sent them.

As God's ambassadors on this earth, we walk in His power and authority. We promote relationship with Him. The Bible also calls us "ministers of reconciliation," which means we are the ones to bring the message of hope in Jesus to the world. You are God's ambassador. Therefore, change the way you think. Change the way you act. Change the way you deal with people.

Today, remember that you are a representative of Almighty God. Look for ways to promote relationship with Him. Speak words of healing that will draw people. Show kindness because it's His kindness that leads people to repentance. Look for ways to bless others as we work together to build His kingdom.

Think God’s thoughts. Speak God’s words. Do God’s deeds.

Happy Sunday.

Your Words Have Power

... And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth."
(James 3:10, NLT).

Your words have tremendous power. You have the power to bless or curse your future. Your words determine your direction. If you go around saying "I will never be successful. I'm so clumsy; I can't get anything right. I'm so undisciplined. I'll probably never lose this weight," you just cursed your future.

You have to be extremely careful about what you allow to come out of your mouths. Realize your words are setting the course for your life. Which direction are you going? Are you declaring good things? Are you blessing your life, speaking words of faith over your future? Or, are you going around saying negative things like "Nothing good ever happens to me. I'll probably never get out of debt. I'll never break this addiction?"

Being transformed by God’s power means we speak God’s words. Words that give life. Words that bring healing. Words that comfort. Words that bless us and others. Today, choose to bless your future. Choose to declare what God says. As you speak words that are consistent with His Word, you're setting your future up for success. You're preparing your way for victory, and you will fulfill the destiny He has planned for you!
Speak God’s words today!

You Will Be Blessed…Again!

When you go through your day, are you looking for God’s favor? Do you expect an overflow of His goodness? Many people wake up and expect to receive minimal blessings through the day, but God has so much more in store for you. What He has prepared for your future is more than you can imagine! What He’s got arranged for your family is more than you’ve ever even dreamed of. I believe that if you will take hold of this truth by faith, you will see wonderful things and doors of blessings will begin to open. You’ll see an increase in all areas of your life. Something you haven’t seen before!
No matter what you are going through, no matter what’s happening in  your life, start looking for more of God’s favor. Don’t settle for where you are now. Don’t just survive, live. Believe that God is good, and He wants the best for you and bless people through you. Remember, whatever you seek, you will find. The universe adjusts to your expectation. So seek Him first, and He will pour out His blessings upon you and your life.
Today, we will conclude the series on Happytudes. Bro George Gabriel will bless you tonight. Just sit back relax and expect to be blessed…again!

Be a Peacemaker!

I am fascinated at how some people are peace stealers. They feel like it's their calling in life to haunt you, try to make you look bad, and tell you what you can't do. These people will try to get you into an argument to get you upset, annoyed and frustrated. Don't take the bait! Nothing is worth losing your peace over. They may think they're getting the best of you, but in the end, God can use that to take you higher. When people come against you, be a peacemaker. Choose to forgive. Pray for that person because that's your best defense. Keep the peace to disarm the enemy against you.
The Bible says your battle is not against mere flesh and blood. That person isn't your enemy; the accuser—Satan—is your enemy. He's trying to get you upset and he’ll do everything to bring you strife and division. When you choose to keep peace, when you keep walking in love and keep a smile on your face, you are overcoming his tactics and you are winning the battle. That's the secret! Today, choose peace, choose to walk in love, and choose the victory God has prepared for you!

Be a peacemaker!

Be Happy

Did you experience something today that has taken your joy and excitement for tomorrow? Today is also the day to get it back! God brought you here on purpose, for a purpose. It’s time to get excited about your future and learn to be happy and enjoy each day.

If you don’t make the conscious effort to be happy, not only will you be robbed of the joy that belongs to you, but he’ll take from your family and friends the gift that you can give them. When you have joy, you can use that joy to influence the people around you for good. Joy is strength, and when you have joy, you can offer strength to the people God has placed in your life.

Today, draw the line in the sand and decide, “I’m not going to live another day negative, discouraged, sour and grumpy. I’m going to put a smile on my face. I’m going to be happy.” Choose to keep your heart open and let your faith in Him fill you with inexpressible and glorious joy!

As we start a new series I pray that our attitudes will change so that our lives will change.

I hope you have a grand feast.

Be happy!

God’s Will

…“So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:17)

II remember a situation in the recent past when I needed to know what God’s will for my life is in terms of my career. I was praying whether I should go into the retail business or media. I prayed and opened the Bible and was led to the book of Tobit where he was getting ready to go to Media. “That’s pretty clear,” I told myself. The rest is history. I pursued a career related to mass media.

Have you ever been in a similar situation and you can’t decide because you don’t know what God has to say about it? Have you ever prayed for God’s guidance in making major decisions in your life? Have you ever prayed for God’s guidance in making the minor decisions in your life?

Knowing God’s will. It’s not just a matter of knowing what is
right and what is wrong. It means knowing and doing
what is in the heart of God.

That’s what we will talk about today. It is my
prayer that after today’s Feast we will be
able to discern God’s will in our lives.

He Erases Your Past

“…His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness" (James 3:10, NLT).

Is there something in your past that you're not happy about? A choice that you regret? A wrong decision that you made? A careless word that you spoke? I have news for you. Good news!

The good news today is that you can be free of guilt and condemnation. You don't have to live with that burden any longer.

God's mercies are new every morning. He's not ever going to run out of compassion. He will never run out of forgiveness. He is never going to say, "Well, this is the last time I'm going to give you mercy." Yes, you can have a new beginning every single day!

Let that truth sink deep into your heart right now. If there is anything from the past that is still weighing you down, take a moment and count on His faithfulness. Call on His mercy. Ask for His forgiveness. Let Him refresh and restore your soul right now. Allow God to use you. All you have to do is say yes to Him.

That is what our hero for this week did. Rahab said yes to God. And the rest is history.

Friend, God can use you today. He can and He will. Thank Him for the work He is doing in your life and say yes to Him and enjoy a fresh new beginning today!
