When I have problems, I always tell myself, “This won’t last. This too will pass…”
This reminds me the story of an 85-year old woman, Mrs. Harris. Because winters are especially cruel to older people, she was finally moving from her New York apartment to sunny Florida.
A saleswoman brought her around, looking at various houses for sale. And in front of one lovely bungalow, she told the elderly woman, “Mrs. Harris, this house is a fantastic buy. You’re saving a lot of money. I believe that in ten years, this will DOUBLE the money you’ll pay for it!”
Mrs. Harris laughed. She said, “My dear girl, at my age, I don’t even buy green bananas.”
Our life is short. Very short.
Today, I want you to remember the painful suffering you’ve had 10 years ago. Or 20 years ago.Or if you’re my age, 30 years ago. Those trials that caused you sleepless nights and buckets of tears.
Where are they now?
Gone like the mist.
You may not see the sufferings anymore, but you’ll still see scars of their presence in your life. Scars that made you stronger in your spirit.Scars that made you more sensitive to others’ suffering. Scars that made you more surrendered to God.
Time doesn’t stand still.
Before you know it, green bananas quickly become yellow.
Your most painful sufferings will pass. As the Bible says, Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. (1 Peter 5:10)
Have a fantastic Feast today!
May your dreams come true,
Bo Sanchez
Healing Scars
Proverbs 20:30
Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change our ways.
Romans 5:3-4
We can rejoice when we run into problems... they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.
2 Corinthians 4:18
We do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven ... The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
1 Peter 5:10
Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right.
Romans 8:20-22
Yet there was the hope that creation itself would one day be set free from its slavery to decay and would share the glorious freedom of the children of God. For we know that up to the present time all of creation groans with pain, like the pain of childbirth.
