Hi! Buhay!

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the focal point of the history of this universe!”

I was 9 years old then …. my parents and I watched a movie entitled “Aladdin.” I had fun watching the movie, had dinner at Aristocrat at Roxas Boulevard and went home. It was my prize for winning 1st place in a declamation contest when i was in Grade 4.

So, there I was in my room, taking off my leg braces when Mom came in my room. She sat down by my side and asked me, ” Nel, If you were granted 3 wishes by your Genie, what would they be?”

While I was taking off my braces, I answered “wish # 1 … Be able to finish and graduate college, …. wish #2, be able to work and wish #3, be able to marry & have a family, Mama”.

Mama was setting aside my leg braces when she turned to me and asked …. “You do not wish to WALK ?” …. And my answer ….. “You only gave me 3 wishes, Mama.”

Whenever I recall this incident in my younger days, I really do have to thank God for granting me those “3 wishes” i asked. Many close friends have asked me the same question … “Did you ever ask God to make you walk?”

“Friend …. I was stricken with polio when I was 6 months old, though I wasn’t able to “walk” like you do, I have received blessings “greater” than being able to “walk”. I was able to study & finish college, I was able to work and the greatest blessing of them all … “my family”. What more can I ask for, Friend? I do not ask for anything more …. I have already been blessed!!”

Before I end, I wish to share with you this beautiful prayer:

Dear God,
Most of us always desire a perfect situation, a perfect life. Yet, You, My Lord, do not grant a perfect life. What you give instead is a ‘perfect heart’ in the midst of an imperfect life. Teach me to be more cheerful, hopeful, smiling amidst imperfections and to enjoy Your wondrous blessings every moment in time. Amen.

Buhay!” dahil may pag-asa at ligaya!
